Peace out Paradise was created to be an inspiring retreat right in the heart of Kreuzberg, a space where you can get your creativity flowing in peace and comfort. 

Equipment

  • 15 Shimpo RK-55 pottery wheels:
    • 8 in the members area that are always available for use
    • 7 in the classroom that can be used by members outside of class time

  • Slab roller

  • Clay press

  • Photo booth

  • An assortment of hand tools for wheelthrowing and handbuilding.

Materials

Clay

We offer 3 types of clay at the studio.

  • white stoneware

  • speckled beige stoneware

  • black stoneware

You can bring your own clay to use in the studio as long as it is compatible with our firing temperatures.

Glazes and Engobes 

We offer an ever-expanding selection of glazes and engobes at the studio. At the moment we have:

  • 21 different kinds of glazes

  • Amaco Velvet underglazes

The team is continually expanding the available glaze and engobe options, but you can bring your own materials to use in the studio as long as they are compatible with our firing temperatures.

Tools

Spaces + Facilities

Our studio spans just under 400m², divided into the following spaces: 

Workspaces

  • In-Process room: space for storing in-progress pieces. The photo booth is also kept here.

  • Prep room: Four big clay sinks for cleaning up, the clay recycling area, clay press, slab roller and most tools are kept here. Also a large handbuilding table.

  • Membership workspace with eight wheels and two large handbuilding tables, two large wedging tables.

  • A dedicated class room with seven wheels and one large hand building table.

  • A dedicated glazing room, with two large metal worktops, a large glaze sink and all tools needed for glazing.

Facilities

  • Check-in + reception area, where you can also pay for firing fees and collect your class pieces

  • Communal chill-out area, with a small collection of ceramics books, tea & coffee, a microwave and a sitting area 

  • Project space for exhibitions and events

  • Kiln area with two 150L kilns and one 100L kiln

  • Unisex bathroom with two toilets 

  • Lockers for storage of personal items during working hours 

  • Members’ storage boxes, for storing working clothes and personal materials, available for €10/month 

  • Large backyard, where tables can be set up for working outside or for relaxing with your lunch in the summer.

Glazing Room

Kilns

We have three kilns in the studio, firing throughout the week:

  • “Lori” aka NABERTHERM 14S - 70cm high, 40cm wide, 50cm deep 

  • “Robyn” aka NABERTHERM N150 - 60cm high, 45cm wide, 50cm deep

  • “Maddy” aka NABERTHERM Top100 - 56cm high, 48cm wide, 48cm deep
