  • We are located in the second backyard at Dieffenbachstr 35. Just go through the large doors from the street and head through to the second hof. The bright yellow doors on the right hand side are the entrance to the studio. If Google Maps tries to tell you to enter from a street other than Dieffenbachstraße, do not believe it!

  • Yes, you may bring one guest with you to visit the studio when you are working, provided the studio is not too busy at the time. If you wish to do so just make sure to OK it with a member of staff when you arrive. Please be aware that your guest may be asked to leave if the space is needed for working members.

    If you would like to bring a guest to work in the studio with you, they can buy a single check in for €30 at the front desk upon arrival. It is then up to you to guide them in how to use the studio correctly and safely. If they wish to visit the studio more often, they will have to complete an onboarding tour.

  • We have a lost property box located by the lockers. If you think you have lost something at POP, either check there or send us an email and we can check if anything has been found.

  • Children above the age of 10 can use the studio under supervision from an adult under the same pricing system.

    In order to use the studio independently you must be 16 or over.

  • Yes dogs are welcome in the studio. They must remain on a leash and stay with you throughout your time at the studio.

    Please be aware that if your dog causes damage to studio equipment or to another member’s work you will be held responsible.

  • We organise our ceramic markets twice per year. For specific timing it is best to either sign up to our newsletter or follow us on Instagram @peaceoutparadise

  • Yes, we accept applications from outside of the studio as well as current members. Please just get in touch via hello@peaceoutparadise.com

  • We currently do not sell any materials at the studio.

    If you want to buy your own materials we can advise you on where to find the best suppliers.

Membership FAQs

  • Yes! We are currently accepting new members. If you would like to join our studio you can get in touch via email or call in to the studio and chat with our staff there.

  • You need to have a basic understanding of the processes of ceramics. If you have already worked in another studio or have completed a course with us here at POP or another studio, then you are good to go.

    If you have no experience at all we ask that you complete a course with us before starting to work independently. If you are unsure about your level of experience then feel free to get in touch and we can find out where you're at.

  • No! Previous experience at any studio is enough.

    We only require you to do an onboarding tour before starting your membership. It takes 30 minutes and it is free. You can book a time online here.

  • Our courses are open to everyone and all levels of ability.

    Check our courses page for more detail on each course to find the right level for you.

  • Everything you need to start working on your ceramic projects is provided here at the studio.

    You are more than welcome though to bring your own tools or materials to work with at the studio, but please make sure to check in with the staff before working with them.

  • All the materials you need to get going on your ceramic projects are provided for you here at the studio and included in your membership fee.

    This includes 3 different clay bodies, 18 glazes and 10 underglazes.

    When you fire something you have made in the studio you need to pay a Firing Fee, which is calculated by the weight of the piece.

  • Firing fees are charged additionally. Please present all your items to a staff member at the check-in to weigh and pay them before putting them on the firing shelfs. All payments need to be done by card.

    The firing fees for members and time card holders are the following:

    • Bisque firing (bone dry work): €10/kg

    • Bisque firing (wet/leather hard work): €8.50/kg

    • Glaze firing: €8.50/kg

    • Jewellery rack: €5 rental per firing

    • Plates

      • Ø up to 18cm: by weight

      • Ø18-25cm > 5€ flat fee

      • Ø25cm plus > 10€ flat fee

  • The minimum sign up period for a membership is initially 3 full months. After the first 3 full months have elapsed the contract is renewed month by month.

    A cancellation of the membership needs to be done before the end of the previous month to take effect towards the end of the following month (e.g. If you want your membership to end at the end of April, you need to can resign latest by March 30th).

    Memberships cannot be cancelled anytime sooner and paid membership fees will not be refunded.

    Memberships are non-transferrable and cannot be shared.

  • You can cancel your membership directly through your account or you can send a cancellation request via email.

  • Minimum membership sign-up time is 3 full months. Once the initial period has ended, the contract is extended automatically month by month.

    A cancellation of the membership needs to be done before the end of the previous month to take effect towards the end of the following month (e.g. If you want your membership to end at the end of April, you need to can resign latest by March 30th).

  • The minimum initial sign up for membership is 3 months.

    If you would like to to try out using the studio before committing to a 3 months period, you can purchase a time card of 5 or 10 check-ins.

  • We have a work exchange program whereby you can reduce the price of your membership and firing fees by lending a hand with the day to day tasks of running the studio.

    If you are interested please contact us via email and we can give you more details.

  • We allow up to one full month of break time within one year in your contract as a studio member.

    Please let us know in advance when you are planning on going away and we can arrange a pause in your membership.

  • Yes. You can buy a time card for 5 or 10 check-ins at a time and access the studio using these.

    You can also drop in for a single session.

  • All studio users can store there in-process work on the in-process shelves for up to 3 weeks for their work.

    For personal materials - such as tools, clothing, etc. that you want to store at the studio - we offer personal storage boxes that can be rented at a fee of €10/month.

  • We have day lockers for storage of personal items while using the studio. These must be cleared out at the end of each session.

    Members also have the option of renting a members box for €10/month. You can then leave personal belongings in your box for as long as you rent it.

    The studio assumes no liability for your belongings.

  • You can bring in your own glazes to use in the studio.

    They must be compatible with our firing temperatures and be checked by a member of staff before being used.

    In order to use your own clay in the studio we need to know all details in advance. Once confirmed we can provide a plaster bat, bucket and storage space for your clean up and recycling.

    We offer this for a period of 2 weeks at a time, after which time the set up needs to be cleared so that other members can use the space.

Class + Course FAQs

  • Our courses are open to everyone and all levels of ability.

    Our taster sessions are designed to give you experience of ceramics in a one session class.

    Our beginner courses last 3-8 sessions and are designed for beginners to get experience of ceramics production from preparing your clay all the way to finished glazeware.

    Check our courses page for more detail on each course to find the right level for you.

  • A taster session is a 2.5 hour one time lesson while the beginner course has a longer duration over multiple sessions.

    In a taster session you get to try the first part of the process, and for the pieces you keep, our team will finish them for you in the weeks after the class.

    In a beginner course you will be able to take a lump of clay and learn all the processes to turn it into a finished item yourself.

  • New classes are posted on our website at least one month in advance of the run time.

  • Yes you can be put on to a waitlist to take part in any fully booked classes.

    If a spot becomes available you will be emailed and a have the opportunity to book it.

    As the waitlist is a first-comes-first-served tool, we can not guarantee you the spot though.

  • If you miss an appointment, please get in contact with us via email.

    Please note, that due to the structure and time frames of the courses, only glazing class can be potentially rescheduled.

    Rescheduling can not be guaranteed, but our team will do their best to schedule you for a different glazing appointment.

    In any case we can always offer a free 3 hours studio check-in for independent work in our studio to compensate your missed class.

  • Cancellations can be handled individually via our booking system Acuity. You find all information in your booking confirmation email.

    In the event of a cancellation by the participant, the following conditions apply:

    • Cancellations up to 14 days before the start of the class: free of charge, full refund

    • Cancellations from 14 (fourteen) days up to 24 hours before the start of the class: rebooking possible using a voucher, no refunds

    • Cancellation from 24 hours before the start of the class or absence without cancellation: no refund and no rebooking possible.

  • We aim to get everything through the kilns within 2-4 weeks after your class.

    Once the pieces have been fired and unloaded from the kiln you will receive an email letting you know they are ready for collection.

    Please bring this email and your own wrapping material for your pick-up.

  • When your class work in unloaded from the kiln you will receive an email letting you know it is ready to be picked up.

    Please bring this email and your own wrapping material for your pick-up.

  • We keep all class work in the studio for 1 month after it has been unloaded from the kiln.

  • All pieces need to be collected from the studio in person.

    You are free to send a friend over though.

  • We occasionally run classes for children, but we currently don’t have any kids classes as part of our regular schedule.

    We announce all new upcoming classes on our newsletter.

  • Yes, you can choose to glaze your pieces yourself after your taster class.

    Just let the teacher know during your class that you would like to glaze them yourself.

    If you have previous experience working with ceramics you can pay to use the studio independently or if you don’t have experience you can book onto one of our glaze classes.

  • Each private lesson is a minimum of 2 hours and can be extended by any multiple of an hour.

  • For sure! We are happy to plan a private class or event for you. Get in touch via our team events page and let us know more of your idea.

  • Absolutely. If you’re ready to take a private class, you can fill in the form on private classes page and someone from our team will help organize one for you.

Firing FAQs

  • The firing fees are as follows:

    • all external firings (for items created outside of our studio: €10/kg

    • Bisque firing (bone dry work): €10/kg

    • Bisque firing (wet/leather hard work): €8.50/kg

    • Glaze firing: €8.50/kg

    • Jewellery rack: €5 rental per firing

    • Plates

      • Ø up to 18cm: by weight

      • Ø18-25cm > 5€ flat fee

      • Ø25cm plus > 10€ flat fee

  • Bisque firing: 930°

    Glaze firing: 1235°

  • It depends on how much work there is on the shelves but we fire on average 2 bisque kilns and 2 glaze kilns per week.

  • We have three kilns in the studio:

    “Lori” aka NABERTHERM 14S

    • 70cm high

    • 40cm wide

    • 50cm deep

    “Robyn” aka NABERTHERM N150 -

    • 60cm high

    • 45cm wide

    • 50cm deep

    “Maddy” aka NABERTHERM Top100

  • Yes you can book a whole kiln, but timings are contingent on what we need to fire in the studio.

    Please contact us at least one month in advance via email at hello@peaceoutparadise.com to discuss specifications and firing requirements.

    As our members work has a high priority, we will not take any private bookings during December.

  • Yes we love to see what people have been making outside of the studio.

    You just need to be sure that your materials are compatible with our firing temperatures.

    Please provide pictures of the labels of all materials you have used when bringing in your work.

    The studio takes no liability in any case of damage to our kilns or other peoples work.

  • Please bring the pieces you would like to have fired and pictures of the labels of any materials used.

    We need to see the labels to confirm that the materials are suitable for our firing temperatures.

    Payment is taken during drop off and charged at €10/kg via card.

  • Yes absolutely. As long as you have previous experience with glazing then we are happy to have people glaze external work in the studio. To use the studio you can purchase a single check-in for 25€.

    You are free to use the studio glazes or bring in your own.

    For the firing we charge 10€/kg.

  • No need to. Just come in with your pieces during any of the regular opening hours.

  • We aim to get everything through our kilns within 2 weeks.

    This timeline can vary depending on the size of a piece - for instance very small items usually go through very fast, whereas large sculptures will have to wait longer before there is room in one of the kilns.

    We upload pictures of everything taken out of the kilns on @popkilns instagram, so you can always keep an eye on things from there.
